EU/International cooperation The city of Mölndal, has ever since Sweden joined the European Union, actively worked with the ambition that the city, our citizens and our companies shall benefit from the Swedish membership. We work with our twin cities, networks and many other partners with the aim of developing Mölndal in a positive direction. Twin cities and networksWe have three twin cities in Europe; Albertlund in Denmark, Borken in Germany and Canterbury in Great Britain. We have an established twinning network with the twins of Albertslund and Borken, for example Ricany in the Czech Republic and Balkow in Poland. We cooperate with the Emilia Romagna Region in Italy in the network Sweden Emilia Romagna Network, SERN. Together with our Italian colleagues, we work, for example, with staff exchange for pre school teachers and to increase the amount of ecological food served in our schools. We are also members of a European organization for small and medium-sized cities called Eurotowns. At the regional level, we are members of West Sweden, the West Swedish municipalities´ organization for an active EU-membership. EU programs and projectsAlmost all our departments are active in one or several EU-funded projects. An example can be a school where teachers and students get the chance to meet schools from other countries, or our traffic administration department that learn from good European examples how to reduce car traffic. And there are lots of other interesting projects going on! The cooperation with other countries, municipalities and companies adds value to our services and to the people involved in the international cooperation.
